Cartoonist turns politician Balasaheb Keshav Thackrey a.k.a. Bal Thackrey is no more.The Shiv Sena supremo breathed his last yesterday at 3:33 pm in his residence "Matoshree".Bal Thackrey was only tiger in the woods of Maharashtra`s politics.As an politician Thackrey played the entire game with three weapons,Hinduism,Marathi Maanush and anti Pakistan.
Bal Thackrey had started his carrer as an professional cartoonist.He worked as an cartoonist in Free Press Journal,Bombay.He also made cartoons for Times Of India`s sunday eddition.After the differences with free press journal,he started his own cartoon weekly,Marmik,with the help of his brother.He used it as an campaign against non-marathi people who were working in Bombay,especially Gujrati and South Indian labour people.News-O-Holic presents you a list of cartoons which were made by Bal Thackrey and published in his daily cartoon weekly Marmik.
In 1966,Bal Thackrey formed his own party,Shiv Sena,which is working for the rights of the people of the Maharashtra state.The first moto of Shiv Sena was to secure jobs for the people of Maharashtra and campaigning against north indian people.In 1989,Bal Thakrey launched the official paper of Shiv Sena,Saamna,where he written his opinion on current synerio of politics.In 1995,Shiv Sena-BJP combo won Maharashtra assembly elections and came to the power.In those days,Bal Thackrey played the role of remote control,because he was involved in the decision making process of the government.
Thackrey always claimed that his party Shiv Sena is working for the Marathi Manoosh (common people of Maharashtra) and Hindu people.In 2006,Thackrey`s nephew, Raj Thackrey,left his party and made his own party,Maharashtra Navnirmaan Sena.He left his party because Thackrey announced his son as the leading man of the party.
Bal Thackrey`s fight with bollywood films and bollywood stars is not hidden from anyone.In 2010,Bal Thackrey had announced that Shiv Sena will do campaign against Shahrukh Khan`s film "My Name is Khan".Because Shahrukh has given a statement in the favour of Pakistani players.But Thackrey was against Pakistani players.Thackrey was also against Karan Johar`s film "Wake Up Sid".Because in this film,lead protagonist Ranbir Kapoor delivered a dialogue "Bombay meri jaan",But Thackrey explained Bombay is not a correct word for the state.Recently,Ekta Kapoor has changed the title of her upcoming film "One Upon a time in Bombay to Mumbai".Because of Shiv Sena`s threat.
